Embattled lawyer Alex Murdaugh was jailed in his home state of South Carolina on charges connected to unpaid settlement money meant for his late housekeeper’s children.

Murdaugh, 53, was booked Saturday into Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center in Columbia, according to inmate records.

The lawyer is accused of collecting $4 million on a life insurance policy for his former maid, Gloria Satterfield, that should have gone to her sons after she died in 2018 as the result of a mysterious “slip and fall” accident at his home.

He allegedly promised her family they would be financially taken care of before he conspired with another attorney “to deprive the Satterfield family of insurance settlements owed to them by converting [the money] to Mr. Murdaugh’s own use,” according to an arrest warrant.

He was arrested on two felony counts of obtaining property by false pretenses Thursday upon his release from a drug rehabilitation facility in Orlando, Florida.

The arrest came nearly a month after he was busted for allegedly trying to get his drug dealer to kill him in a life insurance scam to collect $10 million for Murdaugh’s eldest son, Buster.

His attorney admitted last week that more charges could come for Murdaugh who is also a person of interest in the unsolved double slaying of his wife and son in June.

Officers are also probing the millions taken from his family’s law firm, as well as Satterfield’s death at his home, which was never reported to the coroner and was “inconsistent with injuries sustained in a trip and fall accident.”
